Hey There Duppies,
Last month was a HISTORIC one for Duppy with our biggest ever activation for National Rum Day. We took you to the Caribbean! (…well almost).
Tuesday 16th of August, National Rum Day, will go down in Duppy history with an event like no other. We took over two locations on Portobello Road for a unique immersive experience.
Location 1: Airport Check in
We converted a pub, the Portobello Star, and built our own airport check-in. Upon arrival you received your boarding pass, along with some Duppy Dollars to spend once you landed, and a refreshment in the form of a Pink Ting-A-Ling for the flight. The boarding pass unveiled the secret location of the destination…
Location 2: The Caribbean
At the top of Portobello Road, we had transformed an old arcade into an authentic Caribbean market. The Duppy team worked tirelessly to completely modify the building to provide the best experience possible. As you entered, you heard soothing reggae music provided by the Dub Vendor Vinyl records store. Opposite was our duty free, where you could buy Duppy merchandise and travel sized bottles of rum.
At the end of the warmly lit corridor unveiled the life and soul of the Caribbean. It opened to a big room with market stalls decorating the sides. We had authentic Caribbean cuisine from two different food stands. We had the famous Duppy bar which included the summertime favourite Slush Duppies on the menu. We also had the Duppy shop selling our whole range of rum. There room was full of drinks, games, music, vibes, food, and great energy.
At the back of the room a staircase took you down into our very own nightclub. In the daytime this space was used for an intimate rum blending masterclass, where you learnt about the history of Duppy rum, the art of mixing, and curated your own mix to take home.
Later, this room transcended into the ultimate party, with an added Duppy bar, an enormous sound system, and special guest DJ’s playing the biggest tunes.
To spread awareness of the event we invited a guest list of tiktokers, influencers, rappers, actors, DJ’s and many more. Kano, the founder of Duppy White, came through with his super star friends to party with Duppy.
