Welcome to the Notting Hill Carnival Press Launch
You heard it Duppies, Notting Hill Carnival is back and better than ever.
Whilst the details are still being kept under wraps and the logistics of making it a safe environment for all are being worked out, a new form of carnival will be taking hold of London this year. It may not be the street part vibe we are all used to but it's still going to as epic as ever. Team Duppy were luckily invited to the NHC press launch event at The Tabernacle - the home of carnival and where it all began.
The event kicked off on the gloriously sunny evening of 26th July. Mangrove Steel Band paraded through the venue and started off the night with some banging traditional Caribbean music. Ansel Wong, former Chair of The Notting Hill Board, introduced members of the London Notting Hill Carnival Enterprises Trust and gave an awesome speech to kick things off.
There were of course dancers in incredible carnival costumes and a theatrical interpretation of the infamous Duppies parading around on stilts. Delicious, authentic Caribbean food, from Trini Doubles to Beef Patties were being dished out too to fuel the crowd.
It wouldn't be a true Duppy event without some of our amazing rum, so Team Duppy manned the bar and served rum and mixers and our EPIC Rum Punch for the entire event, all for free too, so you can imagine how popular we were. We shared the rum love into the night and all in all had the best time. We can't wait to see what's in store for the Notting Hill Carnival this year and we look forward to see you all there Duppies.
